Clun in May…….

Clun always starts May with a lot of noise!! Unusual for this peaceful part of Shropshire but The Green Man comes to Clun on the first Bank Holiday and tussles with Frostie the snow Queen on Clun Bridge. Of course he always wins and Summer comes to the Clun valley. Humans can also enjoy the day on the Castle grounds making merry until the sun goes down then moving on to the local pub!! He seemed to do the trick as we have had some wonderful sunshine and even enjoyed a lunch in the garden.

The Clun valley Challenge and Bishop’s Castle Walking Festival had good walking/running weather. Participants of both events passed our door and although we did have some drizzle in the morning at least it wasn’t too hot and also not pouring with rain. we only saw the Clun Challenge runners/walkers who tackled the 16 mile route and it seems as though there was a good turnout. The Bishop’s Castle walkers were a little more sedate and passed in a friendly group.

Through the rest of May we all settle down again to enjoy the peace, quiet and lovely countryside. There are still plenty of things to see and do and we have a couple of late availabilities in our cottages where you can base yourselves.

The Bothy is available  from Monday 5th June for five nights at £280.

Keeper’s Cottage is available  from the 24th June for a week at £427
